Life

So I guess I haven't posted in a while...kind-of because I think I was having a hard time and it was kind-of hard to talk about I guess. Anyone reading this blog prob already knows, but we got a house and then we lost it. We have been looking for house since April and have put it about 35 offers and got accepted on only one offer (I guess actually two, but we were never under contract on the other- it was only by the seller, not the bank). We were really excited because we loved the house- the sellers just wanted to change the closing time amount from 45 days to 35 in their counteroffer to us. We signed the counter, but the sellers WHO WERE IN CONTRACT WITH US accepted a whole new offer that was a lower price than ours because it was all cash. So yeah...it's completely illegal, but the sellers are realtors themselves, so they know they can do that and it would take soo much work and money on our part to make it right by putting a lien on the house or sue them. We were heart-broken and furious, but quickly realized we couldn't do anything because we're poor. Also, after talking to Austin's dad about the situation, we felt better about our idea that maybe Heavenly Father was/is trying to tell us that this is not the right time for us to buy a house. So...we have decided for now that that dream will be put on hold. If the tax credit gets extended to next year, we'll reevaluate if we want to go through all this crap again. Anyways...sorry this post is such a downer- I'll try to post another one that is happier. I promise I'm doing much better, as this was about two weeks ago, btw.

Money

Austin's mom gave us Dave Ramesy's Total Money Makeover book for a gift a little while ago and we just kind-of ignored it, but since we are trying to buy a house, we thought we should be trying to scrimp even more. It sucks, because I really feel like I already pinch pennies, but it's good, I guess. So we still haven't read the book, but we figured out the main point is to pay for everything in cash- so we took our budget and went to the bank and got all the money in cash. We seperated all the money into different envelopes labeled like "groceries" and "medicine" and "car" and stuff. Then I made a calender and everytime we spend money we write it up on our chart. It's actually working- we are staying right on budget. However it is pretty freaking time-consuming. Doing that in addition to househunting is just exhausting me. Sorry...guess I'm just complaining today...

More to Love

Is is sad that most of the comments I make on this blog are about tv? I guess besides Macy, that's my life...how sad. Well- anyways- I LOVE this show!! Does anyone watch it? It's kinda like the bachelor (which I guess I have never actually seen so idk, but I'm pretty sure) because this one guy has all these girls who he's "dating" except the catch is that they are all plus size women. The show claims to be revolutionary because no "reality" shows have allowed plus size girls to do the dating thing, but I'm not sure... on the one hand I LOVE that these women are being given a chance to do what they want (though, I have to say I don't really think dating on tv is a good idea, if they want to, that's their prerogative...) and I LOVE that FINALLY people are talking about the fact that stupid skinny witches are the only freaking girls that are on tv- I want to see REAL people who look like me once in a while thank you very much!!! But...on the other hand, I kind-of feel like it maybe is just making them feel worse because they are getting rejected on national tv now and based on their personalities and looks (their faces, not weight) this time...idk...it's not my fault this show is going on, right? Does that mean I don't have to feel guilty when I watch it? I don't want to be a part of exploitation...but I also love to watch the drama! Thoughts?

Julie and Julia

Today I treated myself to going to see a movie after Austin being gone all week. Val and I really enjoyed ourselves! I thought it was a very cute movie- it was funny to me that she says her friend had a blog and that people who have blogs are very self-centered that they think anyone wants to read about their dumb life and Val's so cute because I turned to her and she knew exactly what I was thinking and said to me- "you can so have a blog-that's not true!" (or something nice like that). I did feel better that the whole thing in the movie is that Julie does get a blog and that's what everything starts from- so it can't be that dumb right? Anyway, my mom did not like the movie because she said it didn't really go anywhere for her, but I told her it's because you're not like almost 30-ish and like "trying to find yourself" and stuff. It seems like a lot of chick lit and flicks seem to have that theme of the girl getting older and trying to figure out her life- it is comforting to me that those themes are popular because I feel like they wouldn't be selling books and tickets if that didn't resonate with girls- it makes me feel better that maybe other people don't really know what they're doing all the time either I guess?...It sounds dumb when I write it out like that- oh well- there it is...

Macy's Plan

So i went out to Danville to my Aunt's house for the afternoon to keep me sane while Austin is gone and it was really nice. I just want to say though, that a not nice part was transfering Macy from their crib to the carseat to go home- I have a very hard time driving anywhere far because it is always so much work with Macy and really stressful for me, so i listen to books on tape so i can have a motivation to drive- i get to listen to the next part of my book. So, transfering Macy did not go well and she was awake the whole drive home- it was just kind-of funny ( but kind-of not) how the whole drive home she was silent, until i turned on my book on tape- then she would freak out and scream. Turn it off, silence; turn it on, scream. Macy seriously plots against me- i swear. (I'm just thinking that this probably sounds really horrible to normal moms- oh well- this whole blog is about accepting that i guess i'm not a normal mom) (whatever)

Bridezillas

I love this show- at least I'm not like those girls.

House Hunting Sucks

Austin and I have been looking for a house since April- we have put out 28 offers so far and I have probably looked at over 60 houses. About 2 weeks ago, we finally got accpeted on our first offer after all this time, the problem though, is that we have been putting in offers sight unseen and this house was one of those. Looking at the house, we aren't sure we love it. After so many offers, though, and with our time limit of the 8,000 dollar tax credit running out in October- we are feeling the pressure. We had a little ray of sunshine come into our gray parade (it's not black yet, we do have something) on Friday when we saw a house we loved and heard that we were in the top four offers (most houses we've offered on have over 30 offers). However, we heard back yesterday that we didn't get this second one. We were very disappointed- the parade is getting blacker. Blahhhhhhhhhhhh
